 In this post, let's talk about some common activities that people do at certain places. Let's answer the question:

"What are you doing at ___________?"

The answer should describe something that is happening at the moment.

In the following examples, the -ingforms of verbs are used in the present continuous tense. Here are some examples:

7-Eleven

  • I’m searching for snacks and cold drinks for the trip.
  • I’m trying out the new ice cream flavors.
  • I’m getting a prepaid SIM card for internet access.  

Market

  • I’m searching for fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • I’m browsing handmade souvenirs for my friends.
  • I’m comparing prices for household goods.

Restaurant

  • I’m trying to find some spicy dishes to taste.
  • I’m savoring a plate of pad Thai with shrimp.
  • I’m waiting for my mango sticky rice to arrive.

Beach

  • I’m hunting for seashells by the id water's edge.
  • I’m soaking up the sun while sipping a cold drink.
  • I’m taking a dip in the crystal-clear water.

Café

  • I’m searching for a fresh cup of coffee.
  • I’m catching up with a friend over coffee.
  • I’m enjoying a book and my latte at the same time.

CONVERSATION 

A: What are you doing at the park this morning?
B: I’m jogging to prepare for a marathon next week. How about you?
A: I’m taking my dog for a walk to help him release some energy.
B: That’s great! What’s he doing now?
A: He’s socializing with other dogs near the fountain and seems very excited.
B: I noticed that! He’s really enjoying himself, isn’t he?
